Changes: Increased table & bar seating, arcades, self-serve beverage

While Massachusetts remains in Step one of Phase III of the Reopening Massachusetts plan, Gov. Charlie Baker announced yesterday (9/23/20) additional steps forward in the guidance for retail and restaurant operations.

The updated sector-specific safety protocols which take effect on September 28th are:

  1. Retail businesses – changes include the allowed reopening of self-serve beverage stations, in compliance with certain guidelines, and recently updated guidance relative to indoor arcades, etc.

  1. Restaurants – changes include an increase in allowable party size to 10 seated guests, the reopening of bar seating, and rules relative to indoor recreation activities, such as darts, arcade games, pool, etc.

All members are reminded that businesses open for operation must continue to comply with all Phase III sector-specific safety protocols and recommended best practices as well as the Mandatory Safety Standards for Workplaces.  Members are strongly encouraged to review the updated Phase III guidance to ensure compliance.
