RAM Calls on Gov. Healey to Delay Trucking Emissions Rules:

Limitations in Technology & Vehicle Availability

RAM recently joined with more than 50 other employer and industry organizations in urging Governor Maura Healey to delay the implementation of the Advanced Clean Trucks (ACT) and Heavy-Duty Omnibus (HDO) rules, currently scheduled to go into effect on January 1, 2025.

In a letter to Healey, the groups cited “the current limitations in technology, infrastructure and vehicle availability,” as reasons for the Commonwealth to consider a delay.  The Advanced Clean Truck (ACT) and the Heavy-Duty Omnibus (HDO) regulations stipulate an increasing percentage of zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) truck sales starting in Model Year 2025 and stronger NOx standards effective January 1, 2025.  We argue that the necessary technology and infrastructure are not yet in place to support these initiatives, while medium and heavy-duty trucks are essential for the broad supply chain supporting the retail and restaurant industries.
