MA DOER Releases Final Guidance on New Appliance Efficiency Standards

Home appliance and home improvement retailers are urged to review the final guidance issued last week by the MA Department of Energy Resources (DOER) which provides additional detail on implementation of the updated (in 2021) appliance efficiency standards.  The regulation will be effective January 1, 2023, for sellers and installers of impacted products, including:

  • Commercial hot-food holding cabinets
  • Computers and computer monitors
  • State-regulated general service lamps
  • High CRI (color rendering index) fluorescent lamps
  • Plumbing fittings & fixtures
  • Water coolers
  • Residential ventilating fans, and more…

New state guidelines specify the requirements for all regulated parties including manufacturers, distributors, retailers, and installers of impacted product types and how DOER will enforce those requirements.  Visit the state’s Appliance Energy Efficiency Standards page for more information or review the final Guideline Interpreting 225 CMR 9.00 (Appliance Efficiency Standards).

MA Environment Committee Seeks Retailer Input on

Food Security Infrastructure Grant (FSIG) Program

The MA Joint Committee on Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture (ENRA) is seeking RAM member feedback on past experiences with the Food Security Infrastructure Grant (FSIG) program.  The Committee hopes to learn how this program benefitted recipients and how it could be improved to better serve applicants and awardees going forward – including entities that may or may not have been successful in obtaining a grant.  If you reviewed the grant program, applied, or chose not to apply, the Committee would appreciate your participation in this brief survey.

If you have any questions about this survey, please contact Shannon Emmett, Research Director for the ENRA Committee at [email protected].
