Small Business Health Insurance to Senate Bill 3018

This Thursday, July 21st, the Massachusetts Senate is scheduled to debate its economic development bill and will be considering these two small business insurance reforms filed on RAM's behalf.  These innovative proposals are designed to increase cash flow for small businesses, level the playing field on mandatory costs not experienced by large competitors, and provide financial relief during these inflationary times.  In addition to protecting the viability of small businesses, the resulting benefits will also foster increased economic activity and job growth in the Commonwealth.

Massachusetts Residents Advised to Protect Public Benefits from Scams

Recently, the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) issued warnings to residents of skimming scams that have impacted some DTA clients. The agency and its investigations team became aware of banks and retailers who appear to have had their ATMs and card processing terminals compromised. These scams are aimed at obtaining credit, debit and Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card information and Personal Identification Numbers (PINs). You can read the advisory below, and online in English and Spanish.

You can find images of these types of scams and what to look for at Mass.gov/ProtectYourEBT. To the extent possible we recommend you check your POS devices, and any ATMs located in your stores, to ensure no unauthorized chips or skimming equipment has been added.

Please help us spread the word. We are asking SNAP recipients to re-PIN their EBT card frequently. Steps on how to do so are available online at Mass.gov/ProtectYourEBT.

If any DTA client believes they may have fallen victim to a skimming or phishing scam, they are encouraged to report it to DTA’s fraud hotline at 1-800-372-8399.
